A CREATIVE PERSONAL BRANDING PHOTOSHOOT INSPIRED BY CINEMA

Some people build their personal brand around what they do.
Others build it around the world they create.
For this filmmaker, cinema has always been more than a profession. It is a source of inspiration, a creative language and a huge part of who he is.
So rather than creating a collection of standard professional portraits, we wanted to bring that world into the photographs. His creative process. His influences. His personality.
And, of course, his lifelong love of Old Hollywood.
The result was a personal branding shoot that feels less like a set of headshots and more like stepping into his cinematic universe.

THE INSPIRATION
Start with what makes you, you.
From the beginning, we knew cinema had to be at the heart of the shoot.
Films weren’t simply something he worked on , they were part of his visual identity.
And one influence stood above the rest: Old Hollywood.
The glamour, the drama, the lighting, the characters and the timeless quality of those images have always been a source of inspiration for him.
So instead of hiding that influence, we made it part of the concept.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS
Behind every story is the person who creates it.
One of the most important parts of his brand is the creative process itself.
So we wanted to capture him doing what he does.
Writing.
Thinking.
Creating.
We created an image that places him within that process, capturing the moment of writing as a visual representation of the ideas happening behind the scenes.
Because sometimes the most powerful personal branding photograph isn’t a portrait looking at the camera.
It’s a photograph that gives you a glimpse into how someone thinks.

OLD HOLLYWOOD
A love letter to the cinema that inspired him.
For the second part of the shoot, we leaned fully into his lifelong fascination with Old Hollywood.
We drew from the visual language of classic cinema: dramatic lighting, timeless portraits and a sense of character and mystery.
The goal wasn’t to recreate a specific film.
It was to capture what he loves about cinema and reinterpret it through his own identity.
The result is imagery that feels cinematic without losing the person at the centre of it.
THE PORTRAITS
Professional doesn’t have to mean predictable.
Alongside the more conceptual images, we created a collection of portraits designed to show him as the filmmaker behind the work.
Different expressions.
Different compositions.
Different sides of his personality.
But all connected by the same visual language.
This is where creative personal branding photography can become really powerful.
You can still have the images you need for your website, social media and professional profiles without having to sacrifice personality to get them.

ONE PERSON. MANY EXPRESSIONS.
A filmmaker doesn’t exist only behind the camera.
There is the storyteller.
The writer.
The dreamer.
The person influenced by the films they’ve watched.
The person creating the films they haven’t seen yet.
We wanted the photographs to hold all of those sides at once.
One story. Multiple expressions.
PERSONAL BRANDING WITHOUT THE CORPORATE BLANDNESS
This is exactly why I love working with creative entrepreneurs and independent professionals.
Your personal brand doesn’t have to look like a corporate profile.
It can be cinematic.
It can be nostalgic.
It can be dramatic.
It can be weird.
It can be inspired by the things you’ve loved your entire life.
Your influences are part of your story.
Why not make them part of your images too?
THE ASCEND APPROACH
ASCEND is my creative personal branding photography experience for people who want their images to feel like an extension of who they are.
We start with your story, your personality, your influences and the brand you’re building.
Then we create one overarching concept and explore different expressions of it; whether that’s your creative process, your environment, your inspirations or something completely unexpected.
Because personal branding photography shouldn’t just show people what you do.
It should give them a sense of who you are.
